Microsoft Surface -- Watch it Now!

Less than 24 hours ago, Microsoft made an announcement for a new product, which had been rumored to be a tablet.  The rumors were true.  Gizmodo covered the event live, and nicely managed to capture everything that was being presented as it was, from music played to drinks served to on-the-go paraphrasing.  I might seem a little too eager because the video above is just way too exciting.  This definitely trumps their advertising for the Zune.  The music is perfect, as are the macro images shown in between features of the Surface.  I'm assuming the metallic things from the macro images are Magnesium, because that's what the case is made of.  That'd be pretty cool, anyway.  Almost reminded my of TGWTDT title sequence, in a way.  Anyway, here are the official specs for the smaller model, described with adjectives:

  • OS: Windows RT
  • Light: 676 g
  • Thin: 9.3 mm
  • Clear: 10.6" ClearType HD Display
  • Energized: 31.5 W-h
  • Connected: microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 2x2 MIMO antennae
  • Productive: Office 15 Apps, Touch Cover, Type Cover
  • Practical: VaporMG Case & Stand
  • Configurable: 32 GB, 64 GB
So pretty!

Rumors also say that the Surface will be comparably priced to its competitors.  So... $600?  Something like that.  I've been waiting for a good non-Apple tablet to come around, and I can't wait for this.  I might have to re-prioritize getting a new phone in August!
